A number of Indian troops came to France during World War I (1914-1918) via the British Indian Army. These soldiers were revered in France for helping to liberate it in World War I. Many of these soldiers came from Punjab province, and many were Sikhs. The French produced many postcards celebrating the Indian troops who fought on their soil. |
